Positive-displacement pumps move a fixed volume of fluid with each revolution, delivering near-constant flow regardless of back-pressure. That makes them the right tool for the jobs a centrifugal struggles with — viscous, shear-sensitive, or particulate-laden product, and any duty that needs accurate dosing or metering. CSI configures rotary lobe and circumferential-piston pumps in hygienic 316L builds for food, dairy, beverage, and personal-care production.
The Alfa Laval SRU rotary lobe is the staple of the line: gentle, reversible, and easy to strip and clean, it transfers everything from cultured dairy and cottage cheese to creams and finished cosmetics without breaking down the product. Most models are available in 3-A and EHEDG-compliant executions.

Viscous, shear-sensitive, or particulate product — yogurt, cottage cheese, creams, sauces, and slurries — plus any duty that needs accurate, repeatable dosing. PD pumps hold flow steady as pressure changes, which centrifugals can't.
Both are gentle PD pumps. Rotary lobe (e.g. Alfa Laval SRU) is the versatile workhorse for general transfer and CIP; circumferential-piston designs offer higher efficiency and better thin-liquid and CIP performance in some duties. Tell us the product and conditions and we'll recommend the fit.
Rotary lobe pumps are reversible, which helps when clearing lines or running CIP. They tolerate brief dry running better than many pumps, but continuous dry running will damage the seals — confirm the duty with our team.
