About Twin-Screw Pumps

Twin-screw pumps do two jobs in one unit: gentle, low-pulsation product transfer at process speeds, and high-velocity clean-in-place flow at higher speeds — eliminating the need for a separate CIP pump. CSI configures hygienic twin-screw pumps such as the Alfa Laval OS for dairy, beverage, prepared-foods, and personal-care lines.

Their long, meshing screws move product with very little shear and handle entrained air and large particulate well, while the same pump ramps up to deliver the turbulent flow CIP needs. Most builds are available 3-A and EHEDG compliant with 316L wetted parts.

Twin-Screw Pumps FAQ

A twin-screw handles both product transfer and clean-in-place in a single pump: it moves shear-sensitive product gently at process speed, then spins up to provide CIP velocity — saving the cost, space, and piping of a dedicated CIP pump.

Shear-sensitive and aerated product, items with large or delicate particulate, and lines that change over frequently. It's common on dairy, beverage, prepared-foods, and personal-care duties that also need integrated CIP.

In many circuits, yes — because the pump reaches CIP velocities at higher speed, a single twin-screw can both run product and clean the line. Confirm the required CIP flow and head for your circuit with our team.
