Rotary Lobe Pumps FAQ
Start with your duty point — the flow rate (GPM) and total head (ft) your process needs — plus fluid viscosity, temperature, and solids. Centrifugal pumps suit low-viscosity, high-flow transfer; positive-displacement (lobe / circumferential piston) handle viscous or shear-sensitive product; AODD pumps are ideal for drum and tote unloading and CIP. Use the duty-point filter on our pump catalog, or send your conditions to a CSI engineer.
Choose centrifugal for clean, low-viscosity fluids at higher flow and lower pressure (CIP return, water, thin product). Choose positive-displacement when the product is viscous, shear-sensitive, or needs accurate metering — it delivers a near-constant flow regardless of pressure.
Most models are available in 3-A and EHEDG-compliant hygienic builds with 316L wetted parts and a ≤ 32 Ra surface finish. Certification depends on the exact configuration, so confirm the build with our team.
